GLCU Foundation for Financial Empowerment’s mission resonates as strongly with me today as it did when I joined. Through my personal experiences and professional work, I have seen how deeply financial and housing stability shape the long term wellbeing of individuals, families, and entire communities. Expanding access to opportunity remains the work at hand.

My career has long centered on supporting people on their paths to self sufficiency, and it has been a privilege to lead the Foundation’s philanthropic and programmatic efforts. Over the years, I have contributed to impactful advocacy efforts, including work surrounding the California Homeowner Bill of Rights and youth empowerment initiatives in San Francisco, ensuring that the voices of those most affected are represented in policy and system level change.

During my tenure as Executive Director, I’ve focused on strengthening and expanding the Foundation’s reach across Chicagoland and Illinois. We have deepened our financial empowerment services, broadened access to housing counseling and stability resources, and expanded partnerships that help residents build financial confidence and resilience. This work has included growing community collaborations, refining program practices, and aligning our efforts with the evolving needs of the people we serve.

I believe the challenges faced by our communities require nonprofit leaders to engage not only in philanthropy, but in active service delivery and thoughtful advocacy. Over the past three years, the Foundation has advanced this approach by enhancing its education initiatives, developing new pathways for economic mobility, and amplifying conversations around equitable financial access.

Looking ahead, it will be critical to continue strengthening our internal systems, expanding our community presence, and evolving our programs to drive deeper, more lasting impact. My hope is to ensure our work remains vibrant, responsive, and focused on reaching those who need it most so that together we can advance financial empowerment across our region and beyond.
